Apple Picking with my little punkin heads

Today we took at family trip to Eckert's in Belleville.  I thought Ryan would have a blast picking some apples.  Plus, to be honest, peach pickin is too darned hot.  We got there and got a ride with Henry on the tractor.  Ryan thought that was pretty cool.  Then we got off of the trailer and a woman who Henry called "Grandma" (not sure if they were related:) showed us the way to Golden Delicious apples.  Steve lifted Ryan up and Ryan picked all of our little goodies.  He thought he was really big.  The trailer then drove us by the pumpkin patch.  I told Steve that we were staying on.  The pumpkin could be bought at Shop N Save.  The rip off of the apples was going to sting enough.

First day of school.

Ryan started pre school today.  The morning was nuts!  It started with the fact that Ryan (Ryan that is usually up at 6am) did not want to get up.  He slept till 9am and then got mad when I woke him.  I DO NOT know where he gets that from.  Must be his Dad's side:)  Well after screaming and yelling I got him dressed.  You know that stressed me out as I don't think the diaper and no shoes look is appropriate for the first day of my little genius' education.  Then Daddy and I went and met the teachers and the kids.  I have to tell you, I was impressed.  Impressed with how well Ryan actually played with the other kids.  Impressed he didn't hit anyone.  Mostly impressed with the patience of those teachers.  I would be scratching at the windows to get out of a room of 2 year olds.  I know, I will not include this post in my Mother of the Year application.  He had a lot of fun, and I am so excited for him.  I thought I would be sad but, I am so happy for him.  I loved school and I hope he does too!
Ryan holding the teacher's hand.  I have a feeling he will spend a lot of time holding the teacher's hand.

Are we suprised this is the first toy he picked up?

Things I would never do.

I used to have a long list of silly things that I would NEVER do.  God knew about this list and gave me a little boy just to show me how little control I actually have.  Here are some of them.
1. I would never be that white trash that lets there kid run around outside with no shoes and a diaper.
2. I would never let my kid get all wet and then play in the sand box.
3. I would never proceed to bathe that dirty sand covered child in the baby pool.
....well here is the evidence.  I am a changed woman.

Is he funny or what?  Oh yeah those cut off sleeves were on my never list too...it goes on and on.

What is wrong with this kid?

New haircut

It was even funnier that he walked in with sunglasses on.  Too bad my nails were wet and I didn't have the camera ready.
As most of you well know both my hubby and little boy sport the buzz cut.  However, for the last couple of months I have been trying to grow out his hair so that he will look like a proper little boy at his Godmother's wedding in October.  His hair was shaggy and he was looking like the rough and tumble boy that he is.  So, I decided he needed his haircut.  Steve had it in his mind that he wanted Ry Guy to have "the Princeton" haircut.  I told him I had never heard of that and he said it was what he had in high school.  "A mullet", I asked.  "No", he said.  Then he proceeded to describe it.  Like all New Age mommas I tried to Google it.  None of the haircuts I found were it.  So a novel idea crossed my mind.  Steve could take him.  So I sat at home and painted my nails while Steve took my baby to get his haircut.  And wouldn't you know he returned a little boy!

The boy is 2!

Ryan and his godmama Julie before we pet the goats.
For Ryan's birthday he slept until 9am.  Is it my birthday or Ryan's?  Then his godmama Julie came over and we headed to the zoo.  I haven't been to the zoo since Ryan was about 6 months old.  During that trip he got sunscreen in his eyes, screamed, and I thought that I would "wear" him in a baby carrier.  This trip I brought the stroller, the ultra expensive sunscreen that doesn't burn his eyes, and lots of snacks and drinks for everyone.  Needless to say, it was a much better trip.  We had a really good time.  I can't honestly say he was too excited about all the animals.  But he got to pet the goats and he really loved that.  The new River's Edge exhibit there is awesome and he was quite intrigued with the bathing elephants.  The celebration will continue today with Gammy, Papa, Grandma, and Grandpa coming to dinner.  Oh and mommy is trying a new recipe (that may spell disaster).  But until then, I couldn't resist posting some pics.

Our first family pictue.
2 years ago tonight I was in hardcore labor with my little bundle of joy. After 48 hours of labor with a c-section at the end, I was wiped!  However, little did I know that I was about to be introduced to such an example of God's love for me.  Don't get me wrong, when the OB asked me if I was ready to nurse I wasn't feeling that warm, fuzzy feeling.  In fact, I wanted to tell her to go ahead and do it.  But now, oh man do I love that little guy!  I have such hopes and dreams for what he will become.  Most of all I just want him to love Jesus.  I want him to have a personal relationship with him and know all the joys of really being a Christian.  I want him to love his job.  I want him to be nice to everyone.  I want him to want to cuddle with me until he is 40. OK, maybe that is pushing it a little.  I guess that what I am saying is thank you God, thank you so much for my wild and crazy little boy.  Thank you for letting me experience the scariest/most wonderful feeling in the world.  Thank you for letting me feel a fraction of the love you feel for me for my baby.  Thank you most of all for helping me to understand what a sacrifice it was for you to give your son for us!  And God I am just going to throw this in there.  It would be really nice if my next pregnancy/labor (when it happens) is a little easier than the last.  I promise I will still be this grateful:)

A very busy weekend.

It seems that I always schedule way to much in each weekend.  Then Monday comes and I am exausted.  This weekend is no exception.  Yesterday was MAAP it to Marley's.  It was a charity event that I volunteered for.  There were lots of games and alcoholic beverages.  There was also a lot of heat.  So you can imagine that I was ready to leave when the games were done.  I was the referee for "beer pong."  A highly competitive game where I had to remind numerous players that this was for charity.  We finally got home at about 7pm.  Then Callie came over and Ryan and I went with her to Panera.  It was really fun!  Ryan was hilarious and talking up a storm.  Don't ask me what he was saying.  Today I have 2 showers to attend.  My friend Julie's wedding shower, and my friend Stephanie's baby shower.  Pictures will come tomorrow!  Hope everyone had a happy and healthy weekend!!
